We have continuously received the highest rating possible from both Blue Book Services (XXXX) and Red Book Credit Services (****) indicating integrity, financial strength, and ability to do business.
We strive to maintain the highest rates possible. The primary types of equipment that we utilize are vented vans (during harvest time only), insulated trailers with heat, and reefer trailers. We pay immediately (via Comchek or by mailing a check) upon receipt (via fax, e-mail or mail) of the required bills of lading.
We offer the best service possible to our shippers with the knowledge that we have of the various scenarios that occur when dealing with produce. Mark and Vern take orders and dispatch trucks, while Kathy handles all billing and payments. We are dedicated to our business and pride ourselves in the service that we provide.
Floyd Bakke worked for Scott's Inc. (based in Grand Forks, ND) at their Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN offices. Floyd wanted to begin his own business in Michigan, so the owners of Scott's Inc. (Archie Scott and Betty Perrin) partnered with Floyd and his wife Kay in establishing Scott Trucking Service, Inc. on August 18, 1966. Floyd and Kay moved from Fargo, ND to Mattawan, MI and opened their office in a trailer located at the Marathon Truck Stop in Kalamazoo, MI. One year later, they relocated their trailer to the truck stop in Mattawan. Archie & Betty sold their shares in the company in 1974 leaving full ownership to Floyd & Kay.
Floyd & Kay's daughter Karen and son-in-law Harold Anderson (along with their daughters Sue & Kathy) moved from Williston, ND to Mattawan in February of 1975 to work with them as the business continued to grow. Floyd and Kay retired in 1983, but continued to help out when needed for the next couple of years. Due to reconstruction of the truck stop where the office was located, a house was purchased in Mattawan and remodeled to become the new office for the company, which they moved into in July of 1984.
Harold & Karen's daughter Kathy was hired part-time in September of 1984 and began working full time after graduating from High School the following year. Kathy's husband Mark Drew joined the business in August of 1988. Scott Trucking Service, Inc. moved to their current office in Lawton in November of 2004. Harold and Karen retired in February of 2007 and Vern Gable was hired in March to help Mark with dispatching. The company continues to do business with honesty and integrity that the company was founded on.
